Hypoparathyroidism

Back to Glossary

Hypoparathyroidism

Hypoparathyroidism is a condition where the parathyroid glands produce insufficient amounts of parathyroid hormone (PTH), leading to low levels of calcium in the blood (hypocalcemia). Symptoms include muscle cramps, tingling, and seizures. Treatment involves calcium and vitamin D supplements to maintain normal blood calcium levels.
