Intermittent Claudication

Back to Glossary

Intermittent Claudication

Intermittent claudication is a condition characterized by muscle pain or cramping in the legs that occurs during exercise and is relieved by rest. It is typically caused by peripheral artery disease (PAD), where narrowed arteries reduce blood flow to the muscles. Treatment includes lifestyle changes, medications, and sometimes surgical interventions to improve blood flow.
