Investigational New Drug Application (IND)

An Investigational New Drug (IND) application is a request submitted to the FDA to obtain permission to start clinical trials with a new drug or biological product. The IND application must include data from preclinical studies, information about the drug’s composition and manufacturing, and the proposed clinical trial protocol. Approval of the IND is required before the drug can be tested in humans.
