Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Back to Glossary

Multiple Sclerosis (MS)

Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord. It is characterized by the destruction of the protective myelin sheath around nerve fibers, leading to impaired communication between the brain and the rest of the body. Symptoms include muscle weakness, fatigue, balance problems, and cognitive issues. Treatment focuses on managing symptoms and slowing disease progression.
