Natural History Study

Natural History Study

A natural history study is a type of observational research that tracks the progression of a disease over time in the absence of experimental treatment. By collecting data on how a condition develops and varies across individuals, these studies provide critical insights into disease onset, severity, and long-term outcomes. This information is especially valuable in the design of clinical trials for rare or poorly understood diseases, helping to inform endpoints, identify patient subgroups, and support the development of external control arms.
