New Drug Application (NDA)

A New Drug Application (NDA) is a formal request submitted to the FDA by a pharmaceutical company seeking approval to market a new drug. The NDA includes comprehensive data from preclinical and clinical trials, information on the drug’s safety and efficacy, manufacturing details, and proposed labeling. The FDA reviews the NDA to determine whether the drug is safe and effective for its intended use.
