Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

Back to Glossary

Postmenopausal Osteoporosis

Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a condition characterized by weakened bones and an increased risk of fractures due to the loss of estrogen after menopause. Estrogen helps maintain bone density, and its decline leads to accelerated bone loss. Treatment includes calcium and vitamin D supplementation, weight-bearing exercise, and medications such as bisphosphonates to strengthen bones.
