Propensity Score Matching (PSM)

Propensity Score Matching (PSM)

A statistical technique used in observational studies to reduce bias when comparing treatment groups. Propensity score matching involves pairing individuals with similar characteristics—based on their likelihood (or “propensity”) of receiving a particular treatment—so that differences in outcomes can be more reliably attributed to the treatment itself rather than confounding factors. This method enhances the validity of non-randomized research by simulating some of the conditions of a randomized controlled trial.
