Back to Glossary

Respiratory Insufficiency

Respiratory insufficiency is a condition where the lungs are unable to provide adequate oxygenation or remove carbon dioxide from the blood. It can result from various lung diseases, neuromuscular disorders, or chest wall abnormalities. Management involves addressing the underlying cause and providing respiratory support, such as supplemental oxygen or mechanical ventilation.
