Short Bowel Syndrome

Short bowel syndrome is a condition characterized by malabsorption of nutrients due to the surgical removal of a significant portion of the small intestine. It can result from conditions like Crohn’s disease, intestinal injury, or congenital defects. Symptoms include diarrhea, weight loss, and nutrient deficiencies. Management involves specialized nutrition, medications, and sometimes surgical interventions.
