Skin Grafting

Back to Glossary

Skin Grafting

Skin grafting is a surgical procedure in which skin from one area of the body is transplanted to another area that has lost skin due to injury, burns, surgery, or disease. There are two main types: autografts (from the patient’s own body) and allografts (from a donor). Skin grafting helps promote healing, protect underlying tissues, and improve appearance and function.
