Sunburn

Back to Glossary

Sunburn

Sunburn is skin damage caused by excessive exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun or artificial sources. It results in redness, pain, swelling, and, in severe cases, blistering and peeling. Sunburn increases the risk of skin cancer and premature aging. Prevention includes using sunscreen, wearing protective clothing, and avoiding prolonged sun exposure.
