Back to Glossary

Vascular calcification is the accumulation of calcium deposits in the walls of blood vessels, leading to stiffness and reduced elasticity. It is associated with aging, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, and atherosclerosis. Vascular calcification can increase the risk of cardiovascular events, such as heart attacks and strokes.
