Vitreoretinal

Back to Glossary

Vitreoretinal

Vitreoretinal refers to the relationship between the vitreous humor (the clear gel filling the eye) and the retina. Vitreoretinal diseases and conditions affect these structures and include retinal detachment, macular holes, and diabetic retinopathy. Vitreoretinal surgery involves procedures to repair or treat these conditions, often using advanced techniques such as vitrectomy.
