LUND, S.E., October 23, 2025 – TFS HealthScience (TFS), a leading global contract research organization (CRO), has reached a major milestone in its sustainability journey with the validation of its near-term and net-zero greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The approved targets align with the Paris Agreement’s 1.5°C pathway, meeting the most ambitious standard for corporate climate action and underscoring TFS’s commitment to measurable, science-aligned decarbonization and leadership within the global life sciences sector.
“This validation is a powerful statement of our commitment to building a more sustainable and resilient business and future. At TFS, we recognize that climate action is both a shared responsibility and a strategic priority that supports our employees, clients, and communities. Setting these science-based targets demonstrates our determination to lead by example and with excellence within the clinical research industry.”– Markus Granlund, Chief Executive Officer
The SBTi has approved TFS’s near-term and long-term science-based targets as follows:
- Net-Zero
TFS HealthScience commits to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2050.
- Near-Term
TFS HealthScience commits to reduce absolute scope 1 GHG emissions 42.0% by 2030 from a 2024 base year. TFS HealthScience also commits to increase active annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 62.0% in 2024 to 100.0% by 2030. TFS HealthScience further commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 51.6% per EUR value added by 2030 from a 2024 base year.
- Long-Term
TFS HealthScience commits to reduce absolute scope 1 GHG emissions 90.0% by 2050 from a 2024 base year. TFS HealthScience also commits to continue active annual sourcing of 100% renewable electricity from 2030 through 2050. TFS HealthScience further commits to reduce scope 3 GHG emissions 97.0% per EUR value added by 2050 from a 2024 base year.
“Having validated science-based targets marks both a milestone and a new beginning. TFS has been advancing its sustainability agenda through strengthened environmental management, transparent reporting, and growing collaboration across its value chain. Now, with clear targets and a roadmap to net-zero, we are accelerating our transition to low-carbon operations and driving meaningful impact together with our partners and stakeholders.” – Nicole Bezuuidenhout, Sustainability and Communications Manager
These targets also complement and reinforce the broader sustainability strategy of TFS’s owner, Ratos AB, which is advancing its own science-based climate commitments. This alignment strengthens collective action on climate across the Ratos Group, enhancing long-term value creation and transparency for all stakeholders.
With its science-based targets now approved, TFS joins a growing number of life science organizations taking credible steps toward decarbonization. TFS continues to embed sustainability into its operations, governance, and culture, bridging science, people, and purpose to help create a healthier, more sustainable healthcare ecosystem for future generations.

About the Science Based Targets initiative
The Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is a corporate climate action organization that enables companies and financial institutions worldwide to play their part in combating the climate crisis. We develop standards, tools and guidance which allow companies to set greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reductions targets in line with what is needed to keep global heating below catastrophic levels and reach net-zero by 2050 at latest. The SBTi is incorporated as a charity, with a subsidiary which will host our target validation services. Our partners are CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
